Independent MEP candidate, Arnold Cassola, has met with Nature Trust officials at the Pembroke Natura 2000 site in Malta

Arnold Cassola stated that, ”honest Maltese citizens and residents want a more beautiful and better environment, a just social system, clean governance and full accountability.”

He stressed that ”in the European Parliament, I will work hard for legislation and resources to push forward four issues of crucial importance for the future of our country.”

Cassola insisted that ”as a country, not only do we deserve good governance and a compassionate and just society but also a clean environment in order to give a future of hope to our youth.”

In this respect, he said that ”for the past sixty years Nature Trust has been on the forefront to protect our country’s biodiversity and getting legal protection for various plants and animals in the Maltese Islands, thus helping to save from extinction some of the local endemic species.”

Nature Trust – FEE Malta President, Vince Attard, said that ”Nature Trust is hoping more candidates start putting environmental issues on their political agenda. Today Sustainable Development is being used like a rubber band by many to justify economic growth completely forgetting social and environmental issues which are as important for our natural heritage, well being and healthy lifestyle.”
