A new library has been inaugurated in Qala, completed with financial investment from the Qala Local Council and funds from the Ministry for Gozo and Planning.
The inauguration was carried out by Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the Mayor of Qala Paul Buttigieg and the local council.
The Council explained that this library will be offering a sensory corner for children with autism, in order to be an inclusive library and welcome all children without distinction. This library has been equipped with corners where children can meet to read and work together, while there are other areas specifically for quiet reading.
Colourful bean bags were bought to give a more vibrant look to the library and new, modern furniture. In addition to books for children, a number of books for adults were also bought. This library project also included the regeneration of the building.
Qala Mayor Paul Buttigieg said that the library will also be offering a new space where various activities and meetings can be held. “The local council committed to keep investing in new material, because a library needs to keep updating it with books.”
