MaltaPost is warning the public to be vigilant for fake facebook profiles and online portals pretending to be official communication channels of MaltaPost.

It said that over the past weeks and months there have been various scam messages, sent by scammers utilising various fake communication media, in an attempt to steal people’s money or obtain confidential information, such as bank account numbers and passwords.

The latest scam message, currently uploaded on facebook, deceitfully informs that MaltaPost is clearing its postal warehouses and selling lost parcels at giveaway prices, it said.

MaltaPost said that ”this is yet another scam intended to fool people into clicking a malicious link.”

MaltaPost advised its customers that any official news and updates are communicated through the company’s verified corporate facebook profile page (facebook.com/maltapost) and the official website (www.maltapost.com).

It said that if a customer receives any suspicious online links, web pages or messages of any type, related to postal services, they should be reported immediately.
