Today, after 170 years, the Gozo College Sir Arturo Mercieca Primary School in Vajringa Street, Victoria, will close its doors for the last time – a very emotional day for both educators and students.

At the start of the next scholastic year students will be moving to the long-awaited new premises at the educational complex in Triq l-Ewropa.

Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Alex Borg remarked that it is known as ‘Happy School’ ”because it is not just a ‘school’ but an educational institution that has carried emotions, love, learning and friendships.”

He expressed his sincere thanks to all the teachers and educators who over the years have been part of this great history.

”To Head of School Lelio Spiteri, who during these last years has been witness to an education that does not rely only on academic teaching. Gozo is grateful to you,” said Borg.
