The JP2 Foundation is hosting the Abbey School Music Ensemble in Concert from the UK. The band holds 33 young musicians. They are visiting Malta where they will give concerts Valletta, Gozo and Marsaxlokk.

The Abbey School is an all-girls school based in Reading in England approximately 50km west of London.

The school’s music department is vibrant with many girls studying music academically as well as taking lessons in singing, piano, strings, woodwind and brass. Girls are encouraged to take part in ensembles such as choir, concert band and orchestra.

Young musicians from the school have previously visited Paris and the island of Jersey.

Head of Department, Helen Bilkey said ”we are very excited to visit Malta, to share our music and to embrace Malta’s culture, history and heritage.”

In the Muza Valletta, the band will perform in the main entry yard at 2.00pm on Friday, the 5th of July.

In Gozo, the band will perform at Church Square in G?ajnsielem, on Saturday, the 6th, starting at 7.30pm. The G?ajnsielem Local Council is collaborating in this event.

In Marsaxlokk, the event will also take place on Sunday, the 7th, in the Church Square starting at 8.30pm. The Marsaxlokk Local Council is also collaborating in this event.

The entrance is free and the public is invited to attend.
