A 39-year old man from Victoria is in a critical condition after he found himself in difficulty while swimming at ??Dahlet Qorrot, Nadur.
Police said that the incident happened at around 5.30pm on Friday afternoon. Other people at the scene brought the man ashore and provided first aid.
A medical team took the man to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was later certified to be in a critical condition.
Magistrate Dr. Simone Grech has launched an inquiry.
Police investigations are ongoing.
