More than 12,000 students have started attending this year’s edition of Skolasajf with the theme – Life is my Adventure.
This year Skolasajf will be provided in 54 centres around Malta and Gozo between Monday and Friday, which include 5 resource centres and 5 centres in Gozo.
The service continues until the 9th of August and from the 19th of August to the 6th of September. Skolasajf hours are between 8:30am and 12:30pm, however an extended service for working parents will be provided in selected centres from 7:00am to 8:30am and from 12:30pm until 5:30pm.
Education Minister Clifton Grima described this service as a successful one, with applications increasing from year to year. He said that in 2020 there were 7,849 applications, while last year and this year more than 12,000 applications were received.
He explained that through Skolasajf, thousands of students are being given an extended education service with the children who attend benefiting from a programme of informal educational activities linked to the theme through various events including, outings and sports games among others.
The entities from the public and private sector that contribute to Skolasajf are also growing, the Minister said that last year 90 entities, including private companies and non-governmental organisations participated in Skolasajf.
