A 51-year old man from G?ajnsielem, was critically injured after a roof on a residence he was working on caved in causing him to fall the height of one storey.

Police said that the incident happened at around 6.30pm on Thursday evening, in Triq Malta.

The man was given first assistance at the scene by a medical team and members from the Department of Civil Protection before being taken to Gozo General Hospital from where he was later transferred to Mater Dei Hospital.

Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
