Blood cannot be stockpiled. Did you know that red blood cells have a shelf life of only 42 days. This is why regular donations are so important. Please help keep the supply flowing.
“Donations are being requested to help ensure hospitals have an adequate blood stock for patients in need,” the National Blood Transfusion Service said. All blood types are currently needed.
The Service is again encouraging Gozitans to please keep attending donation sessions to help the patients in need get the necessary blood in a timely manner.
The NBTS also advised that is has updated the donor eligibility guidelines removing restrictions on a number of medications. For more information on donor eligibility please call on 22066201 or 79307307 or on free phone 80074313?.
The next session in Gozo will be, Sunday, the 25th of August, from 8am until 1pm, at the Xewkija Community Clinic.
“Your cooperation and generosity are greatly appreciated as always,” the Service said.
The centre is located at the Xewkija Community Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.
