Nature Trust – FEE Malta – Gozo Section said that on Monday morning, a small, but severe storm, with localised extremely strong gusts of wind, hit the beach.of Ramla Bay, where two turtle nests are currently being monitored.
The storm drenched the volunteers and the security on duty, as well as causing damage to the gazebos. NTM said that “thankfully nobody was hurt and the turtle nests are both safe.”
“A huge thank you goes to all of the volunteers and members of the public who helped Sunday night and Monday morning with preparing sandbags and extra fortifications to protect the nests in the coming days from the strong waves predicted,” NTM said.
Nature Trust – FEE Malta – Gozo said it will be monitoring the situation closely and hoped that the nests will remain safe.
