Over 315,000 people were employed during Q2 – Labour Force Survey

During the second quarter, the Labour Force Survey estimates that total number of persons in employment was 315,545, this was 6.2% higher when compared to the previous year, the National Statistics Office today.
The survey shows that across all occupations, the average monthly basic salaries of employees varied from €3,162 among managers to €1,280 among persons employed in elementary occupations.
The NSO noted that the average monthly basic salary of employees for the second quarter was estimated at €1,942. The highest basic salary was recorded in the financial and insurance activities sector.
On average, out of every 100 persons aged between 15 and 64 years, 78 were employed, the NSO said.
Among the employed population 37.6% had a tertiary level of education.
The unemployment rate for the second quarter of 2024, stood at 3.2%.
The NSO said that the main reason for inactivity relates to persons reaching retirement age or taking up early retirement (41.9%).
