The National Blood Transfusion Service said that currently all blood types are currently needed, and donations are requested to help ensure hospitals have an adequate blood stock for patients in need.

Did you know that men can donate blood every 3 months, whilst women can do so every 4 months. The NBTS said that “your consistent donations are crucial in maintaining a steady blood supply.”

The Service continues to encourage Gozitans to please keep attending donation sessions to help the patients in need get the necessary blood in a timely manner.

The NBTS also advised that is has updated the donor eligibility guidelines removing restrictions on a number of medications. For more information on donor eligibility please call on 22066201 or 79307307 or on free phone 80074313?.

The next session in Gozo will be, Tuesday, the 17th of September, from 1pm until 5pm, at the Xewkija Community Clinic.

“Your cooperation and generosity are greatly appreciated as always,” the Service said.

The centre is located at the Xewkija Community Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

Important notes from the National Blood Transfusion Service

• Bring your Maltese ID Card, driving licence or passport.

• Drink some water before your donation and have a light snack.

• Wear loose fitting clothes/sleeves.
