Hosted at the foyer of the Maltese Parliament, the exhibition will focus on Puccini as a photographer, featuring rare photographs taken by the composer himself, personal letters, and other artifacts. This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the artistic eye of Puccini beyond his iconic music.

Notte Bianca Concert

As part of the Notte Bianca celebrations on the 5th of October, a special concert by 2 tenors and pianist from Italy will be held at the Auberge of Castille. This intimate performance will offer audiences a unique opportunity to experience Puccini’s chamber music in a historic setting, adding a special touch to Malta’s largest cultural night.

Organ Concert at St. John’s Cathedral

On the 29th of November, experience the grandeur of Puccini’s music in the historic setting of St. John’s Cathedral. This organ concert will feature some of Puccini’s most powerful compositions, brought to life by an international acclaimed organist in a venue renowned for its architectural beauty and acoustics. This event promises to be a memorable evening that pays tribute to Puccini’s musical genius.

Concert at Manoel Theatre

The celebration continues on the 6th of December, with a special concert at the iconic Manoel Theatre, Malta’s National Theatre. Esteemed performers will take to the stage to perform some of Puccini’s most iconic works. This concert will be a highlight of the commemorative series, offering the audience a chance to experience the emotional depth and dramatic intensity of Puccini’s music in one of Malta’s most prestigious venues.

International Symposium

The series of events will culminate in an international symposium and a book launch on the 7th of December. This symposium will bring together scholars, musicians, and enthusiasts from around the world to discuss the enduring relevance of Puccini’s work in contemporary culture. The event will feature panel discussions, presentations, and interactive sessions that explore Puccini’s influence on modern music, theatre, and beyond.

Dr. Noel Camilleri, President of G?aqda Nazzjonali Ka?ini tal-Banda commented, “as we celebrate the centenary of Giacomo Puccini’s legacy, we are reminded of the profound impact he continues to have on the world of classical music and the arts. These events not only honour his remarkable contributions but also invite us to explore the lesser-known facets of his genius, including his skill as a photographer. Puccini’s works transcend time and culture, and these events are an opportunity for us to reflect on how his influence remains as powerful today as it was a century ago.”
