A 51-year old man is in a serious condition in hospital after he found himself in difficulty while diving in Gozo.

Police said that the accident occurred at around 3.30pm in the area of ix-Xatt l-Ahmar, Ghajnsielem.

The man, a Polish national, was assisted by people who were with him, who then took him to the Gozo General Hospital.

Duty Magistrate Brigitte Sultana has appointed a Magisterial Inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
