Thea Aquilina won Saturday’s sixth edition of the Kantamaghna Festival, with an exceptional rendition of the song ‘I will survive.’ Nicole Hammett placed second, while Ema placed third in the competition.

Giorgio Anici Camilleri won the Kantamaghna Junior festival. He performed the song ‘What a Wonderful World.’ Aaliyah Grech and Joy Xerri placed second and third respectively.Thea Aquilina wins sixth edition of Kantamaghna Festival in GozoThe DCapitals Big Band presented the 6th edition of the very popular Kantamaghna – A Singers’ Festival, at the Teatru Astra in Victoria.

30 singers participated in the festival and were divided in two categories. 15 singers aged 11 to 15 participated in Kantamag?na Junior while the other fifteen aged 16 to 35 participated in the Kantamaghna Festival. The 30 finalists were selected after an audition process which took place in November 2024.

All singers were accompanied by an 18 piece live band, DCapitals Big Band under the direction of Mro George Apap. Keane Cutajar hosted this year’s festival.

The winner, Thea Aquilina will be signing a one-year contract with DCapitals Big Band, giving her the opportunity to participate in a good number of concerts with the Gozitan Big Band.

Kantamaghna was presented in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning.
