The first day of the Gozo Motocross Championship 2025 was a resounding success, showcasing thrilling races and exceptional talent by Gozitan and Maltese riders.
The highlight of the day was the first ever Womens’ Class on the Maltese Islands, when four Gozitan women put on an impressive display as they battled for a place on the podium.
The GMA said that the day got underway with practice sessions, allowing participants to familiarise themselves with the challenging track, followed by some thrilling races.
Biuren Grima dominated Class A, while Chris Farrugia, Daniel Inguanez, and Maria Camilleri took the top spots in their respective classes. The Juniors’ Class saw a tight competition, with Trystn Theuma emerging victorious.
At the end of the event, GMA treasurer, James Camilleri, presented trophies to the winners. President Frank Xuereb congratulated all participants and said that “the success of the first round is certainly merited to the hard work of all those who would like to see Motocross at the very top of Gozitan Sports.”
The second round of the Championship will take place on the 17th of November.
Meanwhile, the GMA said that it has been working very hard towards organising a 4-day training Camp in Sicily for its member riders, which gets underway on Friday.
13 Riders will be participating in 5 different tracks along the southeast area. This venture, made possible with the collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, “will provide new exciting experiences for our riders, aged 5 – 35 while giving the opportunity to collaborate and share with fellow Sicilian Clubs who are showing an interest in visiting our Gozitan track, thus bringing Motocross tourism to our island,” the GMA said.
