Representatives of the Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency (MIEMA) participated in the Final Project Event of the Cities Go Climate Neutral Project, organised in Trapani, Sicily. During which sustainable best practices were presented from the San Lawrenz Local Council.

The event was attended by partners and stakeholders from the different partner countries.

MIEMA explained that the main aim of the event was to present the results of the project and promote best practices identified from the different partner countries covering different aspects of sustainability and climate action, included renewable energy, smart technologies, sustainable transport, waste management and circulate economy.

The event served as an opportunity to showcase the work being done in the community of San Lawrenz in relation to renewable energy projects and green transport.MIEMA said that the numerous initiatives implemented by the local council during the past 15 years were presented, including the council’s, local campaigns to promote clean energy and the purchasing of electric vehicles and electric bikes which are being used by the residents.

The participation of the council in the ISLET project, funded under the LIFE programme as a testing island for setting up an energy community was also presented.

The Cities Go Climate Neutral is funded under the Erasmus+ Programme, where MIEMA led the project as the coordinator and collaborated with partners from Italy, Greece, Croatia and Belgium.

The project aimed to contribute to the digital transformation of EU objectives through the creation of an online platform with digital training content accessible to all.
