The Maltese people are being called by the Nationalist Party to a protest tomorrow, Monday, in front of Parliament “to send a clear message to the Prime Minister that he can no longer act as he wishes.”

In a statement on Sunday, the PN insisted that “the Maltese and Gozitans are outraged not only because a Minister’s wife was paid €70,000 a year but because the same rules applied to the public are not enforced on government insiders who think they can do as they please.”

“Today, we have a Government that has lost all decency because the Prime Minister is too weak to take the necessary steps,” the PN said. “Instead, Robert Abela will continue to persist in his stubbornness and ignore the people’s anger.”

Monday’s protest coincides with a Parliamentary session in which Minister Clayton Bartolo will present the Tourism Ministry’s Budget Estimates. “The Maltese people will deliver a clear message to the Prime Minister: the sacrifices made by our children to further their education cannot be disregarded because Minister Bartolo believes certificates are unimportant.”

During an interview on NET TV and NET FM, Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech explained that, in contrast, the PN “will ensure that the sacrifices made by students translate into opportunities for success through hard work. Under a Nationalist Government, no one will take someone else’s job unless they are competent.”

Following last week’s PN General Council with the theme Malta Zaghzugha, Bernard Grech outlined the party’s vision for a vibrant, energetic Malta pursuing its dreams and a brighter future.

He praised the contributions of young speakers, reflecting a party undergoing renewal, and others who addressed Sunday’s session, who, despite not being members of the Nationalist Party, are drawn to its political will to promote the common good.
