Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech, addressing a protest held outside Parliament on Monday night, highlighted the most recent case where he said, “the Government used public funds as if they were the private property of some Ministers in Government.”
Bernard Grech reiterated that Ministers Clayton Bartolo and Clint Camilleri “must resign and return the €70,000 that were stolen in this web of deception and fraud.”
He stated that in this recent case “Minister Clayton Bartolo’s partner was given a fake job with a salary of €70,000, with the complicity of two Ministers and the Prime Minister, who admitted that he was aware of what had happened.”
The PN Leader also referred to the statement made by Minister Clayton Bartolo, who said that “diplomas and degrees were worthless.” He said that “this explains how educators had to fight for their right to get a decent pay rise while students have been left with no examination results.”
Grech argued that “even though many Gozitans are graduating from educational institutions, Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri felt the need to employ the partner of Minister Clayton Bartolo as a consultant on Gozo. This demonstrates that the Minister for Gozo is not interested in the Gozitans but is more concerned to do a cover up for Minister Clayton Bartolo.”
Bernard Grech stated, “we have a weak Prime Minister who is abandoning the priorities of the people; a Prime Minister who is incapable of distinguishing between what is right and what is wrong; a Prime Minister who is blackmailed because he is the author and defender of one crooked deal after another.”
Bernard Grech claimed that “the Prime Minister is abusing the trust the people gave him in the last election. He addressed those in the Labour Government and the Labour Party, who today are uncomfortable with what is happening, urging them not to remain silent in the face of this wrongdoing and not to let Robert Abela tarnish their reputation.”
