The average waiting time for appointments at the Gozo General Hospital Outpatients Department is “approximately 40 days,” Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela said.

The Minister was replying to a Parliamentary Question tabled in Parliament on Monday by Opposition MP Chris Said, on the average waiting for Outpatients appointments at the Gozo General Hospital, as well as what measures have been taken or are being taken to reduce the waiting time.

The Health Minister went on to say that “various measures are being taken to reduce the waiting time in this Department,” including:

• “Steps are being taken to expand the Outpatients Department of the Hospital. This will increase the number of clinics where consultants will be able to see more patients.

• “The number of consultants providing services in various disciplines continues to grow, thereby increasing the available booking slots and reducing waiting times in this Department,” Minister Abela said.
