President Myriam Spiteri Debono has left Italy for Poland, where she will join Holocaust survivors and leaders from around the world on Monday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

President Spiteri Debono will attend the official ceremony during which the victims of the Holocaust will be remembered, while a message of the responsibility that leaders around the world have for peace will be conveyed. ?

The Maltese delegation led by President Myriam Spiteri Debono also includes officials from the Office of the President of Malta as well as officials from the Embassy of Malta in Poland.

The President Myriam is expected to return to Malta on Tuesday. In her absence, Dr Francis Zammit Dimech is serving as Acting President.
