In March 2009 the Department of Social Welfare Standards which at that time was the Ministry for Social Policy, launched a European Regional Development Fund Aid Scheme to help enhance existing childcare facilities, re-locate premises or set up new centres for children aged 0-3 years of age.

This grant scheme which carries an amount of €500,000 is part-financed by the European Union. This Grant Scheme runs for a period of 4 years, and ends in December 2012.

On Wednesday 25th May 2011 the Department issued another call for applications which closes on Friday 24th June, 2011 at noon.

Those eligible to apply are private enterprises, Voluntary Organisations and co-operatives. The proposed project must be in line with the National Standards for Childcare facilities.

The application and guidance notes can be downloaded from the website or please call the Department for Social Welfare Standards on telephone number 2278-8374 for further details.
