Latest figures from the National Statistics Office show that the number of registered unemployed in January increased once again, this time by 60 persons over January 2024 levels, to 1,117.

The figures revealed that males accounted for 66.7% or 745 of total registrants while females accounted for the remaining 33.3% or 372 registrants.

Increases in the registered unemployment levels were recorded in the majority of the age groups, the NSO said.

The number of persons with a disability registering for work went down by 10 persons over the same period in 2024 at 220. Males accounted for 74.5% of total registrants with a disability.

Clerical support jobs were as usual, the most common occupations sought by both male and female registered unemployed.
