93.3% of people aged between 16 and 74 used the internet last year

A survey on information technology usage has revealed that 93.3% of people aged between 16 and 74 used the internet, the National Statistics Office said today.
The survey also noted that internet usage in Malta exceeded the EU-27 average by 0.5 percentage points.
During 2024, 98.2% of internet users used the internet on a daily basis. The results indicate that internet usage was primarily for communication purposes, with 98.1% using it for this reason. 94.6% of individuals used the internet for entertainment purposes.
Figures show that 81.1% of internet users made use of e-Government services.
Internet users who engaged in e-commerce activities during 2024 amounted to 270,318.
The most common items or services acquired online were deliveries from restaurants, fast-food chains or catering services, and clothes.
