Lent to Easter philately is currently on display in the Gozo Philatelic Society showcase on level -1 at Il-Hagar museum in Victoria.
The Society said that if forms part of the “Easter in Gozo” initiative coordinated by the Gozo Ministry’s Cultural Directorate.
The GPS noted that it is possible the stamps issued by the autonomous region of Bophuthatswana until integrated back into the post-apartheid South Africa, have never been on show to the local public. But all twelve sets (variously described as Passion or Easter) are available on display at the museum sourced through a donated collection.
These forty-eight stamps, shown as mints or on first day covers, “are quite attractive and original – supported with background information,” said the Society.
They can be viewed till the beginning of April. Il-Hagar Museum is located in St George’s Square and opens from 9am to 5pm seven days a week – without any entrance fee.
It is currently celebrating with a documentary exhibition the death centennial of a Gozitan polymath genius: Mons Guzeppi Farrugia, known as tal-Vers.
