As the Christmas season is gearing up fast, the Leone Band of Gozo is busily preparing its annual Grand Christmas Show to be put up at the Gozo’s Aurora Theatre on the Saturday preceding Christmas, the 19th of December, starting at 8pm.

This year, the organisers are planning some innovative additions to spice up the programme with some humour – considered to be the best medicine especially during such a festive season. Rob Ricards, a foreign resident in Gozo, will interpret the re-incarnation of King Herod who will bring some comic relief in between musical acts while at the same time get the audience to think deeply about moral and ethical dilemmas hitting the world news.

Matthew Sultana will be hosting the show, Joseph Caruana will accompany the 30-member junior choir on the piano while Colin Attard conducts the Leone Band in a number of festive melodies. Paul Barnes will also recite a poem acted out on stage by children while the Leone Band accompanies and animates the verses. The line up of up-and-coming local artistes includes Deborah C, Fabian Galea, Ruth Portelli, Stephanie Portelli and Annabelle Zammit.

The Leone Grand Christmas Show promises more fun and high spirits with ballet and cabaret dance items as well as a number of Santa’s Elves who will pop up from every corner of the theatre – no matter the altitude – through impressive acrobatic stunts.

Christmas greetings and well-wishings can then be exchanged over come scrumptuous seasonal delicacies at the theatre lobby.

Tickets can be booked and bought for €5 from the Aurora Booking Office or at the door prior to the commencement of the event.
