Next Sunday, the Sannat Local Council will be presenting this year’s Passion Drama, Guda l-Iskarjota (Judas Iscariot), continuing the village’s strong tradition of dramatic presentations during Holy Week.

The Council said that each year it “strives to bring unique and thought-provoking performances to the public, and this year’s offering promises to be no different.”

Written in Maltese by Mons. Anton Saliba and artistically directed by Mr. Sunny Scicluna, Guda l-Iskarjota is set to be a powerful and deeply reflective event.

The drama will take place at Triq tal-Gruwa, Sannat, on Sunday, the 6th of April, starting at 4.15pm, just ahead of the Catholic community’s approach to the solemnity of Holy Week.

Styled in the Shakespearean tradition, the drama recounts the riveting and emotional story of Judas Iscariot. It explores themes of charisma, his role among the chosen apostles, the fleeting nature of opportunities, and the profound pull of temptation.

This timeless tale of betrayal highlights the inner conflict that will stir reflection and resonate deeply with all who attend.

The event is a free of charge and the Local Council is extending a warm invitation to the Gozitan community and visitors alike to attend this evening of theatre.

This event is being supported by the Ministry for Gozo and Planning and the Cultural Heritage Directorate.
