Nadur Local Council, in collaboration with the Community Policing team, has successfully completed the installation of CCTV systems at Gnien il-Kunsill, Playing Field tal-Hali, and Playing Field San Blas.

The Council said that this important project was funded by a scheme administered by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government and the Local Government Division and forms part of the Council’s “ongoing commitment to ensuring safer and more secure public spaces for the local community.”

“The CCTV systems are aimed at discouraging vandalism and antisocial behavior while assisting enforcement efforts when required,” explained the Council. “Their installation reflects a proactive approach to public safety, especially in areas frequented by children, families, and residents.”

To mark the completion of the project, a special event took place in collaboration with Gozo College Dun Salv Vella Nadur Primary School, involving students in a session on public space safety and civic responsibility.

During the visit, the Police Sergeant for Community Policing explained the purpose and use of the CCTV systems in a clear and engaging manner and answered a number of thoughtful questions posed by the students. “This initiative not only marked the launch of the project but also served to educate and involve young citizens in caring for their community,” the Council said.

The Nadur Mayor Edward Said expressed appreciation for the support received through the funding scheme and praised the collaboration between the Council, the Police, and the school, noting that such partnerships are essential in fostering a safe and respectful environment in Nadur.
