On Saturday evening, President Myriam Spiteri Debono attended Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco opera at the Aurora Opera Theatre, in Victoria, which concluded the 18th edition of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music.

The opera was performed under the distinguished patronage of the President.

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gaulitanus Choir featured in the performance conducted by Festival Artistic Director Colin Attard.

Based on the biblical books of 2 Kings, Jeremiah, Lamentation and Daniel as well as on the 1836 play by Anicet-Bourgeois and Cornu, Nabucodonosor is rich in grand choruses and melodies intertwining politics and religious undertones.
