An injured Eurasian Hobby was retrieved this week by Rangers from the Malta Ranger Unit at a location near Wied il-Mielah, Gozo
The Rangers said that they were in Gozo after several reports of shooting in the area of Sannat, Ghasri and Zebbug, when the Bird of Prey was located by an MRU volunteer.
The bird was taken to to the Government vet, however the MRU said that the vet couldn’t fully determine the cause of the injured wing which had some of its feathers missing – the MRU said that this is “common to see in gunshot related cases.”
“The bird will be given a chance to recover thanks to BirdLife Malta and its team caring for the bird rehabilitation,” said the MRU.
The Malta Ranger Unit urged the Public “to be observant and to get in touch if you find something or see something that worries you in nature.”
The MRU said that it can be contacted on WhatsApp message 24/7 – 7937 8118.
