The Summer in Gozo programme has been launched and includes an extensive cultural calendar, spread over 13 weeks, from July to September, with various activities throughout Gozo.

Launched by Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, the programme has been coordinated by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, and includes over 130 cultural activities ranging from artistic, cultural and thematic festivals.

The Minister said that the tourism sector in Gozo continues to enjoy substantial growth, particularly in the shoulder months and evidence of this is the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office. “The first quarter of the year, Gozo experienced remarkable growth where during the first three months of the year, for the first time we exceeded the figure of more than 50,000 bed nights in Gozo. We continued to work and managed to significantly increase tourism in the quieter months, while maintaining a stable summer.”

He added that the Ministry “remains committed to strengthening the identity of Gozo as a destination that combines entertainment with authenticity through high-quality events that respect the environment, support the economy and strengthen community ties.”

“I am convinced of the strategy we are adopting, which is bearing fruit because we are looking more towards quality tourism and therefore we are giving our visitors added value through this varied cultural programme that we are presenting,” concluded Minister Clint Camilleri.
