The stock of PV installations amounted to 34,955 last year, of which 14.4% were in Gozo and 85.6% were installed in the region of Malta, the National Statistics Office said today.

The top 9 localities were in the region of Gozo and Comino. The NSO said that when analysing the results by district, Gozo and Comino district had an average of 115 domestic installations per 1,000 population.

The domestic sector accounted for 93.4% of the total stock of PV installations, followed by the commercial and public sectors, accounting for 5.8 and 0.8% respectively, in 2024.

The NSO noted that the total kWp last year amounted to 252,255.4, an increase of 4.8% over 2023.

The commercial sector accounted for 52.5% of total kWp in 2024, followed by 45.0 and 2.5% in the domestic and public sectors, respectively.

When compared to the situation in 2023, generation of energy from grid-connected PVs increased by 5.8% in 2024, totalling an estimated value of 326.5 GWh.
