BirdLife Malta has advised that there are only two days left to tell decision-makers: “Hands Off Nature.” It is the opportunity to join over 150,000 citizens defending EU nature laws.
The NGO said that in the middle of summer, the European Commission “quietly launched a ‘Call for Evidence’ inviting companies, organisations and citizens to have their say on whether EU environmental laws should be weakened.”
Some decision-makers call it “simplification” or “cutting red tape,” when in truth “it’s the weakening of the very laws meant to protect nature and people, one by one,” said BirdLife Malta.
So far, over 150,000 citizens have sent personal messages to the European Commission, demanding strong environmental laws. But there are two days more to make this number even bigger, the NGO said.
BirdLife Malta said that “if you care about nature and support strong EU environmental laws, now is the moment to speak up.”
