Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg, who was welcomed by a large crowd in Ghajnsielem on Sunday, announced the setting up of the Gozo Policy Forum and said that, “this is the beginning of a new and beautiful chapter for the PN. Where there is unity there is strength. Let us unite to win, not for the Nationalist Party, but for all the Maltese and Gozitan people.”

In his first public activity in Gozo since elected as the new Leader of the PN, Alex Borg said that “today’s enthusiasm and energy are testimony to a new and beautiful chapter that the Nationalist Party began this week – a chapter that will lead to the Maltese and Gozitan people having the government they deserve.”

Alex Borg announced that, as promised, he will be setting up the Gozo Policy Forum. He appointed Karl Buttigieg – a Gozitan professional in the banking sector – as chairman of this forum which will also include Mayors, Minority Leaders, MPs and the Gozitan members of the Party’s branches. He explained that this forum will be meeting with Gozitans from all walks of life to ensure that the PN’s policy for Gozo truly reflects the needs of the island.

The Leader of the PN recalled how his political career started precisely from Gozo and said that today, in Gozo’s local councils, there is a record number of young people leading their localities. Alex Borg said that what the Nationalist Party managed to do in Gozo it will also do in Malta.

He described the sectional committees as the Party’s “pulse in the heart of the villages and said that through them the PN wants to bring people back.”Gozo Policy Forum announced with Karl Buttigieg as Chairman - BorgHe mentioned how new roles within the Nationalist Party will be announced in the coming days, including that of Chief Executive, as well as a new crowdfunding scheme so that the PN can prepare properly for the next general election.

The Leader of the PN said that Robert Abela wants to call an early election because the PN has a new Leader. Alex Borg emphasised that he wants to build on the positive campaign he led, and thanked all those who in some way were part of both his campaign and that of Adrian Delia for generating so much new enthusiasm.

Alex Borg stressed that he wants to see an inclusive Nationalist Party welcoming with open arms all those of good will.

“We extend the hand of friendship to those we hurt in the past. Where injustices were committed, we will do everything to bring justice. To Labour supporters we extend the hand of friendship because we are a Party for all who truly want a better country,” said Alex Borg.

Borg said that the Maltese and Gozitans are “craving an alternative.” They want a Nationalist Party that belongs to the nation, and therefore he will continue meeting people, just as he did during the campaign.

Alex Borg stressed that the time of red and blue is over; now it is the time of the white and red that we love so much. This is the moment.

Earlier, the PN Leader also visited the San Guzepp Musical Society Club of Ghajnsielem as well as the football ground of Ghajnsielem FC, where an open day was taking place and where he was also able to meet various families with their children.

The next appointment is now for the activities that the Nationalist Party will be organising during the coming week at Triton Square to commemorate Independence Day.

The festivities open on Thursday, the 18th of September and reach their climax on Saturday, the 20th, with a Mass Meeting, where the keynote speaker will be the new Leader of the PN Alex Borg.
