A 43-year old man died this afternoon after getting into difficulty while in the water at the Blue Lagoon, Comino.
Police said that the incident happened at around 1pm, when the man who is English, found himself in difficulties after going down a catamaran slide into the sea.
He was given first assistance by members of Emergency Response & Rescue Corp before being transferred to Mgarr Harbour, Gozo.
From there he was immediately transferred in a waiting ambulance to the Gozo General Hospital, Sadly the man was declared dead soon after arriving at the hospital.
Magistrate Brigitte Sultana was notified and appointed several experts to help with an inquiry.
Police investigations are ongoing.
