A 29-year Spanish national sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car in Victoria on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said that the accident happened in Republic Street, at about 12.15pm.

The young woman was hit by a Mazda 2 which was being driven by a 64-year old woman, from Victoria.

A medical team provided first assistance at the scene before the woman was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where she was certified to have suffered serious injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
