The Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, Chris Said, opened an exhibition of photography showing Marsalforn over the years, which inaugurated a 3 day festival called, ‘Feast St. Paul, Art, Faith and Culture,’ in Marsalforn. This festival was organised by the Xaghra and Zebbug Local Councils and took place over last weekend.

This exhibition shows over 70 old photographs of Marsalforn and gives an idea how this picturesque village, which is traditionally linked to the fishing industry, has changed over time to how it is today.

The festival of art, faith and culture was held for the second consecutive year and is one of those activities that benefited from the scheme of special funds for cultural activities, launched by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Information and the Malta Tourism Authority.

The programme included several celebrations connected with the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, that the chapel of Marsalforn is dedicated to. These included marches by the Xaghra Victory band and entertainment from the Zebbug, Santa Marija festival of choirs amongst others.

Chris Said commended the initiative of the two Local Councils for working together, to ensure that people will visit Marsalforn during the winter months and not just in summer. He urged both Local Councils to continue working together to further promote the locality of Marsalforn and said that other local councils that are geographically close together, should follow this example to work together promoting their locations.
