The next exhibition at the Arthall Gallery, Gozo, is taking place in collaboration with Arteaporte – THE DIGITAL PANOPTICON: PLEASE, WATCH ME! It is an artistic investigation into the digital present and contemporary identity, which is increasingly exposed, observed, and filtered.
The Vernissage will be on Friday 3rd October at 7:30 pm. The exhibition will remain open until the 12th of October.
Arteaporte opens a new frontier in contemporary art and lands, for the first time, in Gozo, Malta, with an international exhibition organised in collaboration with Arthall. A total of 10 artists have been selected to participate in this project:
• Stefano Balma
• Becho
• Peter Jay
• Katia Angela Masella
• Piero Masia
• Sergio Muscat
• Massimo Ravara
• Stefania Ruggieri
• Yyurize
• Emmanuela Zavattaro
Arteaporte said the exhibition is inspired by the concept of the panopticon developed by Jeremy Bentham: a circular prison with a central watchtower from which all inmates can be observed without knowing if or when they are being watched.
It added that “today, this model of surveillance has been internalised, transforming into a voluntary desire for total exposure. In an era dominated by radical transparency, smart technologies, and artificial intelligence, what does it mean to be human? What is the cost of full visibility and absolute efficiency?”
Arteaporte said, “we are the art sectors’ leading company representing the biggest community of contemporary artists. Our goal is to support the artists and bring art to everywhere. We trust that art should be accessible to everyone, in every common place. We are connecting artists with brands, cultural projects and collectors. https://www.arteaporte.com/”
“The show invites everyone to reflect on their hyperconnected present and the progressive loss of depth, complexity, and narrative,” said Arteaporte.
The venue is Arthall: 8, triq Agius de Soldanis, Victoria, Gozo.
