Prime Minister Robert Abela has guaranteed “that with the Labour Party, all Maltese and Gozitan workers in the public sector and everyone who has a hobby can rest easy.”

The Prime Minister was speaking at a political activity held at the Sports and Aquatics Pavilion in Victoria, Gozo, where he also announced that a call will be issued on the Victoria Park project – a green space with underground parking which, he said, “will change the look of Victoria.”

Regarding what he described as the “Nationalist Party’s political attack on Gozitan public sector workers,” Dr Abela said that a Labour Government will not open any investigation into them, as is being demanded by the Nationalist Opposition.

The Prime Minister then asked the PN to apologise to Gozitan public sector workers and insisted that he should withdraw what had been said about them.

In his speech, Dr Abela said that a Labour Government “is the only guarantee for every hobby, including hunting and trapping, sports, festivals and pyrotechnics, and said that not only will it protect them but it will continue to invest in them to strengthen them because they give us our identity.”

The PM claimed that the Opposition itself “knew that what it proposed was a dangerous law, so much so that it had been two and a half years since they presented it to Parliament and had put it to one side.”

Dr Abela argued that if the PN were in Government, “with a stroke of a pen they would destroy and threaten the delights of thousands of Maltese and Gozitans including trappers and hunters, recreational fishing, fireworks, motorsports, and the commercial and recreational maritime industry.”

The Prime Minister then spoke about the various projects either completed or still being implemented on Gozo, stating that the Government “is investing three times more than in previous administrations.”
