Routine traffic inspections by the Police have continued across Malta throughout the week with the assistance of LESA officials, aimed at ensuring road safety.

The Police said that the inspections were carried out in Zebbug, Qormi, St Paul’s Bay, Luqa, Paola, Birzebbuga, Zejtun, Msida, Hamrun and Kirkop, among others.

20 drivers were found without a valid licence, 4 drivers were driving under the influence of alcohol, 24 vehicles were exceeding the speed limit, including one being driven at 137 km an hour in a road with 70 km per hour maximum limit.

There were 150 other contraventions related to several traffic violations.
