The annual rate of inflation in September as measured by the Retail Price Index went down to 2.4% from 2.7% in August.

National Statistics Office data released today revealed that the largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the food index (+0.85 percentage points), mainly due to the higher prices of take-aways.

The highest annual inflation rates in September were registered in other goods and services (4.1%) and food (3.9%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.0%) and clothing and footwear (0.5%).

No downward contributions to the overall annual inflation were registered in the month of September, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for September stood at 2.0%.
