A 73-year old man sustained serious injuries after he fell down into a field in Kercem, Gozo.

Police said that the incident happened this morning at around 9am, in Triq l-Ghadira.

According to investigations, the man, who is from Kercem, slipped while he was walking in a field which resulted in him then falling the height of about one storey into another field.

A medical team, as well as members of the Civil Protection Department, assisted the man who was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was later certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultana has appointed an inquiry.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
