The Gustizzja Ghal Artna Campaign has denied claims that the Government and NGOs are close to an agreement on the proposed Planning Reform.

In a statement, the Gustizzja Ghal Artna Campaign referred to a report published by the Times of Malta on Sunday, with title ‘Revisions to planning law changes near, but key hurdle remains,’ which, the Campaign said, “suggested that the Government and environmental organisations were close to an agreement relating to the Government’s Planning Reform.”

The Campaign said that it wishes to clarify that “at the moment it has no visibility into the changes which the Government will make to the Planning Reform, since no draft has been circulated.”

The Campaign was thus not in a position to review any changes, and has not committed to any changes, it said.

It stressed that, “the fact that talks have been held with the Government does not mean that any agreement has been reached.”

“In the absence of any further information, the position of the Campaign remains the same, that is that Bills 143, 144 and the legal notices should be withdrawn,” it said.
