A Glimpse into Giuseppi’s World, which is the first collection of poems by Giuseppi Camilleri, has just been launched. Giuseppi Camilleri is a boy with autism who has written 20 poems that are now together in one publication.

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri together with The Malta Trust Foundation Chairperson Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca attended the launch.

Minister Camilleri stated that “through poetry, through thought and the way Giuseppi manages to communicate, for the first time he was able to give us insight into what he feels, what he desires, what he expects from our society.”

The Minister stressed that, “therefore, this was a very important initiative where we are not only giving this young man the opportunity to communicate with us and with the rest of society but, more than that, we are also giving more courage to our society to be more inclusive and do everything possible so that every child, young man and young woman have the same opportunities.”

President of The Malta Trust Foundation Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca said, “today in Gozo, we celebrate not just a book of poems, but the life, creativity and courage of an extraordinary young man, Giuseppi. An autistic young man who does not speak with his voice, but with his heart and the written word.”

She went on to say that “through his talent, Giuseppi has shown that silence can speak, and when he speaks, he moves everyone. Giuseppi reminds us of a simple but profound truth: every child has a voice that deserves to be heard, even if they speak differently. Today we celebrate Giuseppi’s voice and all the voices that are waiting to be heard.”

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri added that the Government’s support in this sector remains strong and continuous, with a number of reforms and services that have come into effect over the years. He thanked Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca for her unwavering commitment to this just cause and for the strong voice she gives to the vulnerable in our community.

Minister Camilleri concluded by congratulating Giuseppi for the great steps he has already taken and for his thought-provoking and inspiring contribution to others while also encouraging parents to continue to put forward their ideas and proposals, because their dream can make a real difference in the lives of many.
