The Ministry for Justice and Construction Sector Reform said that it has appointed an Administrative Board to “review procedures for the custody of exhibits at the Gozo Court.”

In a statement, the Ministry said that, “while being assured that the Court Services Agency is cooperating fully with the Court and the Police in the inquiry appointed in relation to a cash exhibit at the Gozo Court, it will be appointing an Administrative Board to carry out a comprehensive review of the procedures relating to the custody of items that have been exhibited in legal proceedings at the Gozo Court.”

The Ministry explained that “the Board will be given a specific deadline to present a detailed report which should include recommendations on how to further strengthen procedures for the safe and reliable storage of exhibits, in order to ensure an efficient and fair system of justice administration in Gozo.”

The Ministry concluded by saying that it “remains committed to strengthening investment and continuing to reform justice systems and procedures, so that they are effective, transparent and up-to-date, including in the Gozo Courts.”
