October’s annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index went up to 2.7% from 2.4% in September.

Latest National Statistics Office data released today revealed that the largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the food index (+0.80 percentage points), mainly once again due to the higher prices of take-aways.

The highest annual inflation rates in October were registered in other goods and services (5.0%) and food (3.7%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in clothing and footwear (-1.2%) and water, electricity gas and fuels (0.0%).

The downward contribution to the overall annual inflation was registered in the clothing and footwear Index (-0.08 percentage points), mainly reflecting lower prices of garments, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for October stood at 2.1%.
