In a statement by the Ministtry for Gozo and Planning, it said that Gozo Channel would like to clarify that the delays experienced today in the inter-island journeys “were a result of the weather.”

This has led to the company’s ships operating from behind Comino, which is a longer journey in time, but is safer for everyone who uses the service, the Ministry said.

Earlier today, the Gozo Business Chamber highlighted what it described as a “dire situation” at Gozo Channel with the long delays

The Ministry statement went on to say that “in order for the company to remedy this inconvenience, caused by elements beyond its control, it has been decided that the service will be a shuttle service and not according to a schedule.”

“Gozo Channel remains committed to offering the best possible connectivity between the channels as long as the weather, which is a major factor in shipping, allows it,” the statement concluded.
