Europe Direct Gozo, in collaboration with EkoSkola/LEAF and Nature Trust – FEE Malta, have successfully organised the Europe Direct Gozo / ECO-Schools LEAF Award Scheme for the 9th consecutive year.

This year’s edition ended in a tie, with Gozo College Agius de Soldanis Middle School and St Theresa Primary School, Kercem declared joint winners.

Gozo schools enrolled in FEE programmes took part by selecting UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and linking them to the EU Green Deal through inspiring school projects that actively involved both teachers and students.

Mr Jesmond Buttigieg, Manager of Europe Direct Gozo, congratulated the educators and students for their dedication and outstanding work.

Speaking during the event, Mr Daniel Borg, CEO of the Gozo Business Chamber, encouraged students to keep making a difference through perseverance and commitment to environmental action.

Europe Direct Gozo expressed its sincere thanks to Christian Zammit of the Gozo Regional Development Authority and Charmaine Borg of Bank of Valletta, for their continued support and for motivating students to become the change-makers of tomorrow.

Closing remarks were delivered by Dr Alice Micallef from the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, who congratulated all participants and encouraged wider future participation.
