Gozo’s Gaulitanus Choir opened the 2026 musical season with the 14th edition of – A New Year’s Toast – held on New Year’s Day at the Kempinski Hotel, San Lawrenz.

The Gaulitanus Choir, under the musical and artistic direction of the choir’s founder-director Colin Attard, presented a wide and varied repertoire, “a musical bonanza of vocal and instrumental numbers for everyone’s tastes which ensured a most positive start to the new year.”

Looking ahead towards the upcoming 19th edition of ‘Gaulitana: A Festival of Music’ being held in March and April, the choir also gave a foretaste of the festival’s highlight event – Verdi’s opera ‘Il Trovatore,” by interpreting the opera’s most famous choral number, “Vedi! le Fosche Notturne” (the Anvil Chorus).

This event was supported by the Cultural Heritage Directorate (Ministry for Gozo and Planning) and Playpen.
