Last year, Gozo commemorated the 15th anniversary of the death of Mons Nikol Guzeppi Cauchi, Bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Gozo.
The JP2 Cultural Foundation will be honouring the late Bishop with a remembrance evening, “In Memoriam.”
The Foundation said it has invited a number of persons who knew and worked closely with him to share their memories and experiences with Bishop Cauchi ~ Mons. Emanuel Saliba, Prof. Joseph Galea MD., HE Mons Joseph Vella Gauci, Dr. Mario Saliba MD., Mons Dr. Joseph Bezzina, Lady Emily Barbaro Sant, Mro. Dr. John Galea. This memorial evening will also host a harp recital by Dr. Lydia Buttigieg.
Bishop Cauchi’s 15th anniversary of his demise fell on the 15th of November last year. He will be remembered in the hosting of His Holiness Pope John Paul II during his pastoral visit to the Diocese of Gozo on Saturday, the 26th of May 1990, which included the first Mass ever to be celebrated by a Pope on the Maltese Islands.
The Foundation said he will also be remembered for giving his approval to erect the National Monument dedicated to the mentioned Pontiff.
The event will take place on Saturday, the 24th of January, at the Nativity of Our Lady Church, Savina, Victoria starting at 7pm.
